Information
The Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) is a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council established in 1992. It replaced previous bodies, which dealt with the development, monitoring, and review of the UN Crime P
revention and Criminal Justice Program. CCPCJ coordinates the activities of interregional and regional institutes focused on crime prevention and criminal justice, and tackles a broader range of issues than previous crime-focused bodies had. Its mandated priority areas are: international action to combat national and transnational crime, including organized crime, economic crime and money laundering; promoting the role of criminal law in protecting the environment; crime prevention in urban areas, including juvenile crime and violence; and improving the efficiency and fairness of criminal justice administration systems. Aspects of these principal themes are selected for discussion at each annual session of the Vienna-based Commission. Furthermore, CCPCJ acts as the governing body of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Fund, the United Nations fund that provides resources for promoting technical assistance in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice carried out by the United Nations Office on Drugs andCrime.

| Amna Abbas | My name is Amna Abbas and I am delighted to serve as the chair of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) at Eurasia MUN. I am a freshman at the Lahore University of Management Sciences, majoring in Economics.
My passions, other than Model UNs, include reading, dancing, travelling and devouring copious amounts of desserts. I particularly enjoy interacting with people from culturally and ethnically diverse environments and am therefore greatly looking forward to the Eurasia MUN. Contact: amnazabbas@gmail.com |
| Charly Altewischer | Hi, I am Charly and I am studying law in my fourth semester at the fabulous University of Passau (originally I come from Berlin). I have been a member of the MUN Society Passau for two years now. I was deeply involved in the organization of InnMUN 2009 as I was responsible for the Crisis Department. Additionally I had the privilege to represent our University at NMUN 2009, where we even bagged the position paper award.
I believe both topics raise a multitude of issues and should be able to evoke some spirited debate where every country is involved. What I am looking for in a good delegate is someone who is eloquent and able to add new perspectives on the topic. It is very important that you represent your country’s position adequately. I am convinced that we will have a sophisticated discussion and also a lot of fun. Contact: charlytheking@web.de |
