Traveling to Passau

Passau is located in the very middle of Europe at the border triangle of Germany, Austria and the Czech Republik. Traveling to Passau is easy.

By Plane

For all participants considering arrivals via plane, we recommend Munich Airport. Delegates coming in from Asia and the Americas can alternatively fly to Vienna or Frankfurt. Furthermore, delegates from inside Europe may find cheap flights to Linz and Nuremberg. All airports have excellent train connections to Passau, Munich offering the cheapest (“Bayern Ticket”) and quickest ones (see below).

By Train

Travelling to Passau by train is quick and easy. Direct trains run from Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Munich, Linz and Vienna. Visit the website of Deutsche Bahn to find out more.

Passau’s main station is conveniently located in the city centre, just a few minutes north of the conference venue.

A great bargain is the “Bayern Ticket”, which you can purchase once you arrive in Bavaria. It allows you to travel on all regional trains (Interregio-Express, Regional-Express, Regionalbahn, S-Bahn) in Bavaria and on public transportation systems in Munich, Nuremberg and several other cities with up to five people for a whole day for just 28 EUR. If you travel alone, you can buy a “Bayern Ticket Single” for 20 EUR. This is still a great deal, especially if you start your journey from Munich Airport. Be aware that both tickets are not valid before 9 a.m. and cannot be used on long distance trains (ICE, IC, EC, etc.)!
